Veterinary internship · South Africa

Veterinary experience beyond the classroom.

Observation and monitoring on a working rescue project. Rate and duration set with you — we discuss the internship before we quote it.

The internship

Field context you cannot get from a textbook.

You are on the project as part of the animal team, seeing how health decisions get made where the animals actually live: what gets watched, what gets escalated, what waits. Scope is agreed in advance with the project and depends on who is on site.

What you may experience

What we can honestly describe.

Two things we can state now. The rest is agreed with the project rather than promised on a website.

01

Observation of veterinary procedures

You watch, you ask, you write it up. What you observe depends on what the animals need that week.

02

Health checks and monitoring

Condition scoring, appetite, behaviour, wounds — the daily observation that catches problems early.

03

[SCOPE OF PRACTICE]

Anything hands-on, and any supervision arrangement, to be confirmed with the project before it appears here.

Learning & development

What you take home.

Held for the real thing — we will not invent an accreditation.

Questions

The internship, in detail.

Pre-vet students, veterinary students mid-degree, recent graduates, veterinary nurses and technicians, and qualified vets. Tell us where you are in your training and we will be honest about the fit.

Observation of veterinary procedures, and health checks and monitoring alongside the animal team. Anything beyond that is agreed with the project in advance rather than promised here. [SCOPE OF PRACTICE.]

That depends on your qualifications, the project’s veterinary supervision and the animal in front of you. We will not overstate it — [SUPERVISION ARRANGEMENT] is confirmed before you travel.

The internship is enquiry-led: duration and rate are set with you. Accommodation and three meals a day are included; flights, transfers, insurance and visas are not.

[LOGBOOK / REFERENCE — to be confirmed with the project.] We would rather leave this blank than promise paperwork we cannot guarantee.
