Beyond the Wild is Sam and Sarah. We are an adventure-driven agency, and we place people on conservation projects and experiences we have personally done ourselves.
We started Beyond the Wild because the experiences we wanted did not exist as products — they existed as projects and places, run by people doing the work, usually with little to no marketing at all.
We moved to Australia 8 years ago in search of unique experiences… Since then, we travelled and worked in some of the most beautiful and remote places & experienced truly wild places, with animals and experiences worth preserving… From working on a tiny island on the Great barrier reef to the deserts of Shark Bay, we experienced it all.
In the last couple of years, our horizons broadened to South Africa, where our love for animals landed us on a small cheetah project near “Joburg”, since then we haven’t looked back and made it our mission to contribute to conservation of endangered animals, whilst volunteering on the project itself. Our goal is to partner with ethical projects around the world.
Away from the project, we are photographers. We run Journey Prints Studio, selling travel prints and wildlife prints from the places we have lived, worked and volunteered.
Our new print shop is in the works.
We only visit our partner projects in person to ensure they are ethical.
Every enquiry is read and answered by one of us.
If animals are bred, sold or traded, we do not work with the project.
Before you fly, while you are on the project, and after you land home.
We look for experiences that sit outside the usual itinerary — places you would not find on a booking site, run by people who are not selling anything. Conservation comes first; the adventure is what it feels like from the inside.
On the ground you will work alongside the project’s own small, family-run conservation team. See who you will meet.
Beyond the Wild places wildlife volunteers and interns with rescue-first conservation projects. Rescued cheetahs are never sold for profit.
